Last spring, thousands of students auditioned for NYSSMA-sponsored competition at solo and ensemble festivals throughout the state.As a result of their exceptional musical talents, 21 Ward Melville High School students have been selected to perform in the All-State Festival of this year’s NYSSMA Winter Conference. The student musicians are taught by Michael Schwartz, performing arts department head/instrumental music teacher Mark Boschen, band teacher and Dr. Alternates are Daniella Brancato (soprano), Veronica Khim (violin) and Chloe Metz (violin). Pamela Levy is the fine and performing arts department head at North High.Īll-State music students South High are Jeremy Chen (oboe, Symphony Orchestra), Deep Datta (violin, String Orchestra), Tom Zhen Huang (clarinet, Wind Ensemble), Jaehyun Kim (violin, Symphony Orchestra), Nicholas Langel (cello, String Orchestra), Oliver Lee (violin, Symphony Orchestra), Samuel Levine (flute, Symphonic Band), Justin Lin (tenor, Mixed Chorus), Fiona Lyngstad-Hughes (soprano, Treble Chorus), Shourav Saha (bass, Mixed Chorus), Eric Yang (clarinet, Symphonic Band), Ashley Yu (soprano, Mixed Chorus) and Ann Zhang (violin, Symphony Orchestra). The musicians are taught by Joseph Rutkowski, instrumental music teacher Dr. Daniel Zeng (violin) was chosen as an alternate for the All-State Orchestra. North High School All-State music students are Joshua Rothbaum (clarinet, Band), Frederick Sion (bass clarinet and contrabass clarinet, Band) and Daniel Itzkowitz (French horn, Band). 2, will bring together the state’s finest student musicians to perform in various ensembles.
